PAYROLL MANAGER
Reports to: Sr Vice President/CFO
Classification: Exempt
Department: Accounting
General Scope:
The Payroll Manager assembles employee hours worked and calculates earnings, calculates tax deductions, makes authorized deductions and prepares and maintains related reports and records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop policies and procedures for time reporting and related payroll processes.
2. Manages timeclocks and payroll software. Serves as main vendor contact for troubleshooting and general management of systems.
3. Imports daily time information from employee time clock system.
4. Edits time worked in payroll system based on feedback from supervisors.
5. Inputs information for any special pay (i.e. incentives, retro pay) into the payroll system along with preparation of supporting documentation.
6. Collects, inputs and audits employee referral payments.
7. Tracks and processes night shift differential pay and/or incentive, when applicable.
8. Processes garnishments and child support payments in compliance with state requirements.
9. Set up and/or terminate direct deposit of employee wages at the request of each employee. Collects pertinent information from employees and verify with banks.
10. Manage the Receptionist/Front Desk Admin Assistant function to include ensuring that offices supplies are readily available.
11. Set up 401(k) deductions for eligible employees contributing to retirement plan.
12. Generate weekly departmental direct labor report.
13. Generate relevant employee payroll information as requested from management.
14. Makes adjustments and creates manual checks or manual entries for special paychecks in order to correct payroll discrepancies or miscalculations.
15. Maintains and reports on vacation accrual and vacation used for each employee.
16. Tracks and appropriately classifies, holiday, funeral, orientation, jury duty, perfect attendance and safety incentive pay.
17. Assists with reports and tasks as requested by SR VP/CFO.
Education and/or Experience
Five years experience in payroll or related accounting field. Advanced skills in spreadsheet/payroll software packages.
Knowledge of ADP and Kronos preferred.
Must be proficient in Excel.
This position requires extensive reporting and will require the ability to do macros, sub-totals, formulas, VLookups, etc.
